1981 video profile of Erik on HealthBeat TV show

This 9-minute video is an excerpt from a TV show out of Boston that profiled Dad/Erik and his unexpected recovery from his (first) bout with cancer.

In addition to the inspiring message from an underdog success and the fun of seeing him at age 44 (about half the age he was when he died), you might get pleasure from the 1981 fashion choices and plaid earthtone kitchen wall-to-wall carpeting.

I still have—and wear—the timeless plaid wool shirt he's wearing in the frame shown here.

    Remembering this wonderful man whom I had the pleasure of knowing both in Maine and here in Vermont. He was a one-of-kind treasure.

Dad/Erik's obituary was published in the Montpelier paper and on their website , but their page evidently isn't visible to people in some other countries. Also, the online version combines all the paragraphs into one, and it's not clear how long it will stay available. Hence, it seemed to make sense to publish it here as well. NORTH MONTPELIER — Erik C. Esselstyn, 86, died Dec. 23, 2023, at Central Vermont Medical Center with family by his side.
